Established in 2007, MASSB Foundation is a 100% volunteer-led nonprofit serving Maryland's most vulnerable through 24 county partnerships.
We provide resources that support at-risk families, children, and vulnerable adults across Maryland.
We envision a quality of life in Maryland in which individuals are healthy and safe from abuse, neglect, and financial distress.
Every individual and family has the fundamental right to live without the fear of physical, emotional, or financial harm.
The MASSB Foundation was formed in 2007 to enable fundraising by local boards for social services programs that are not governmentally funded. Recognizing a critical gap between public need and available resources, a group of community leaders created a 501(c)(3) mechanism that allows local boards to raise and deploy funds directly where they are needed most.
We are comprised entirely of volunteers who serve on local boards in each of Maryland's 23 counties. Together, these boards finance valuable services to thousands of Marylanders each year — made possible by businesses, individuals, and community partners who donate funds and attend fundraising events.
Today, MASSB Foundation partners with all 24 counties and Baltimore City, administering grants and managing the annual Lifting Lives Awards — which recognize the most innovative and impactful local programs across the state.
These principles shape every decision we make and every dollar we deploy.
We are committed to clear communication about how funds are used and the measurable impact we create in Maryland communities.
By partnering with local Departments of Social Services and county boards, we amplify impact and ensure resources reach those who need them most.
We are dedicated to advancing fairness and inclusion, ensuring that every Marylander — regardless of circumstance — has access to the support they deserve.
Rooted in the communities we serve, our volunteer boards bring firsthand understanding of local needs and relationships that generate real change.
We hold ourselves to high standards in governance, grantmaking, and programming to maximize the difference every contribution makes.
Our leaders are motivated by a calling to serve — volunteering their time, expertise, and networks in pursuit of a more just Maryland.
